Advancing hydrogen applications for a carbon-neutral future in iron and steelmaking
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. My research focuses on the use of hydrogen in steelmaking to help decarbonise one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries.
I specialise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of high-temperature processes, including supersonic coherent jets, flame behaviour, and NOx formation in electric arc furnace environments.
My work contributes to the broader goal of enabling green steel production and supporting the transition toward a sustainable iron and steel industry.
Key areas of investigation in sustainable steelmaking
Investigating the engineering challenges and opportunities of introducing hydrogen into oxygen blowing and scrap heating processes.
Modelling supersonic coherent jets and their behaviour under hydrogen shrouding to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
Predicting and developing strategies to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in high-temperature steelmaking environments.
Recent contributions to the field
Updates from the broader green steel community
Research at Swinburne is contributing to the global effort to decarbonise iron and steelmaking through hydrogen and advanced modelling.
Hydrogen is emerging as a critical enabler for low-carbon metallurgical processes worldwide.
With major developments in the sector, Australia faces important decisions on the future of its steel industry and the role of green technologies.
